The And1 Sabotage Mids (performance)

[Sole Spotlight – 3.26.12] – The And1 Sabotage Mids (performance)

Inks and Images: FLASH aka g_sk1lls / Hoopsvibe / Sports.Sohu

Last November, And1 Ph started out a blog section called Sole Spotlight, which literally focuses on a particular shoe model that I’ve randomly picked out.  That inaugural post featured the And1 Supreme Low, an off-court pair that generated a good share of interest from our readers (click HERE for the November 2011 post.)

This year, I’m revisiting the Sole Spotlight sub-section and will be featuring a model that was NOT released locally.  This clean but absolutely gorgeous pair is the AND1 Sabotage Mid.

I first got wind of this model last year, sometime around October.  When I downloaded some online images of it, the first thing that went into my mind was that it definitely reminded me about the previously released Battalion Mid.  That silhouette was available commercially in the mid-2000’s, likely around 2004-2008 and was an underrated footwear.  It was simple, but definitely had a street attitude. Posted below some images for reference.

I asked our local distributor about any possible commercial release for the Sabotage Mid in the Philippines last year, and sadly, it wasn’t part of the lineup that they were ordering.  Back then, I was already desperate to order a pair online, quite possibly via And1 Japan (Fukuoka).  They originally had white/white, black/black, and yellow/black colorways.  Video review from Youtube posted below (it's not in English though) :
Now just around the last week of November towards the 1st week of December 2011, AND1 USA (shoutouts to Rob Purvy and Becky Cheng) was absolutely kind enough to send me a care package with four pairs of size 9.5s, and one of those pairs was my very own Sabotage Mid in an awesome black/orange colorway.  I immediately checked this particular colorway online, and I was floored that it hasn’t been released commercially up until early February 2012 via And1 Japan.  I decided to wear it at a later time since receiving it, and only broke it out from my shoe collection this March 2012.

This model features a glossy/shiny synthetic upper, with EVA in-sole and a rubber outsole.  Counterkicks (check their article HERE) describes it as having "a classic AND1 silhouette, a synthetic upper, and a visible heel air unit. The “Player” logo graces the lateral heels of the model."

I’ve posted more images of the shoe below, and will just let the pictures speak for themselves.  The Sabotage Mid most definitely blows my mind!  Love this shoe model, and if this reaches Philippine shores, I'll get another pair in a different colorway.  Check out more of Sole Spotlight in the succeeding months, only from And1 Ph.  ONE!

And1 Taiwan 2012 footwear collection (Q1/Q2) are now ready for sale

[Shoe News – 2.10.12] – And1 Taiwan 2012 footwear collection (Q1/Q2) are now ready for sale

Just a couple of days ago, I posted an article about And1 Japan’s new stocks of 2012 footwear (initially shared online via the And1 Fukuoka website) – please click HERE to read more about it.  With new colorways of the Empire Mids, plus a couple of new models (Reign Mid and Fort Mid), their collection surely got us amped about the upcoming products (since local releases have only yielded the Ultra Lyte Low and the Total Assist Mid) – blog article about the local releases can be read HERE.

But now, thanks to our And1 Taiwan partners (shoutouts to Vivi!), we’ve got more shoes to check out and new colorways to peep.  I’ve mirrored the images that And1 Taiwan has posted via their Facebook fanpage below and have included the price points for everyone’s reference:

  • Assault Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 1980 or roughly Php 2,835.20
  • Cre8 Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 2680 or roughly Php 3,837.54
  • Elev8 Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 2860 or roughly Php 4,095.29
  • Empire Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 3480 or roughly Php 4,983.08
  • Fort Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 2980 or roughly Php 4,267.12
  • Reign Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 2680 or roughly Php 3,837.54
  • Release Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 1980 or roughly Php 2,835.20
  • Rocket 2.0 Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 1860 or roughly Php 2,663.37
  • Sabotage Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 2680 or roughly Php 3,837.54
  • Slasher Low = (New Taiwan $) NT 1860 or roughly Php 2,663.37
  • Straight Cash Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 2380 or roughly Php 3,407.97
  • Total Assist Mid = (New Taiwan $) NT 2100 or roughly Php 3,007.03
Empire Mids

- Assault Mids (left) and Elev8 Mids (right).

- Fort Mids (left) and Reign Mids (right).

- Sabotage Mids (left) and Slasher Lows (right).

- Straight Cash Mids (left) and Total Assist Mids (right).

Just as I have noted in the And1 Japan 2012 article, the price range for the Reign Mids would retail for around Php 3500-4000, and the Fort Mids will fall under the Php 4500-5000 price range.  Moreover, the new models like the Cre8 Mid could be reasonably priced if it gets sold locally between Php 3500-4000, as with the never-released locally Sabotage Mids, which I’m assuming could be bought for the same price range too.

Again, all of my estimates are just that…estimates.  As a comparison, I’ve listed below the current SRPs of shoe models that are available in And1 outlets and department stores locally:
  • Release Mid – Php 3295
  • Rocket 2.0 Mid – Php 1995
  • Straight Cash – Php 3995
  • Total Assist – Php 3495
Big thanks to Vivi Chang of And1 Taiwan Facebook fanpage for sharing the images and pricing per model.  You can check out them out at http://www.facebook.com/and1taiwan.  But for local info, news, and updates, you can follow us in Twitter (@and1ph) and LIKE us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/and1ph).  And that’s the 411, And Juan!
