Rounding
out And1 Ph’s blog series “Streetball’s Finest” for the month of May, I’ve
caught up with Ced Asuncion aka STYLA,
a Baguio-based freestyler who was introduced to me by Ballers Republic lead, Michael
“BallHustla” Pablico.
Coordinating with him via Facebook, I got word that
the 16-year old ball handling whizkid recently joined an online freestyle
battle via the Facebook page “I am a basketball freestyler” (http://www.facebook.com/IAABF). Competing against 21 other contestants from
different countries worldwide, Styla came out on top and got himself an
exclusive interview featured on the IAABF FB fanpage.
I’ve posted a video of Styla’s winning entry below, and a screenshot of the IAABF interview (click HERE for the complete transcript, redirected to the IAABF FB fanpage). Note that in the video, Styla is rocking the AND1 Taichi TGR Mids :
According
to Styla, the rules were as follows:
- 30-second video with consecutive
freestyle flow, no fancy edits
- Should only use one (1) ball
- Video description: link of the page
- Deadline: May 15, 2012
