This month’s 2^nd Sole Spotlight edition features a shoe review contributed by AND Juan Lenard De Leon.  Lenard recently bought a pair of AND1 Elev8 Mids in Green/White colorway from Zalora Ph (this pair is also avail in regular retail in most AND1/AKT!V outlets and SM department stores) and has emailed me his impressions about this model.

According to him, this pair “has a cool decent design which is similar to the popular (Nike) Hyperfuse”, referring to the main base of the shoe, and the fit is “true to size ..(neither narrow nor too wide).”  Moreover, it “has a decent traction on indoor courts”, while “lightness is just enough”, and “support is also just good enough for a mid-cut shoe, but just make sure you lace it up right to the top.”

Taking note of the shoe’s durability, Lenard quips..“I have an issue on this one which is very disappointing.  I just played one 5-on-5 whole court game on an indoor court and (I noticed) after the game that there was a little scratch which is about to get off the bottom of the shoe; the bottom outsole is ripping a little bit, with a very, tiny scratch.”

All in all, Lenard gives this shoe a rating of 8/10.

Personally, I’m also eyeing this pair in the same green colorway.  I’ve seen some members of Germany’s Finest wearing Elev8 Mids during their recently concluded Philippine tour (Paul Gudde, Lars Meyer, and Anday Ergen), and also another AND Juan, Jon Quintos’ son, who plays for De La Salle (perfectly matching the school’s famous green team color).  The Elev8 Mid definitely shines in this green CW.

According to the official And1 Germany online store, "the synthetic upper of Elev8 Mid ensures stability at low weight.  The surface is also extremely breathable and lightweight, which makes for a comfortable fit.  The special EVA sole protects the foot against impact and absorbs hard landings."
