The And1 Release Mid deserves a second look, a third, and maybe a fourth. I checked out a pair over at the And1 Glorietta 4 shop and while I’m not a huge fan of the overall design, I gotta give it props for the shoe tech that it comes with. It's obviously a performance shoe, and it gives more emphasis on function than aesthetics. Don't be fooled though, it packs some ooomph (tech-wise) and its look does kinda grow on you over time.

As previously featured in Counterkicks (click HERE) and Sneakerfiles (click HERE), it features a synthetic upper, molded quarter panel detail, visible heel airbag unit (for cushioning), TPU heel panels for support, and a herringbone traction pattern outsole for grip (yep, perfect for slashing and pivoting).

Zappos has a Youtube video feature for the And1 Release Mid (click HERE – nice Black/Black/Silver CW by the way), and from what I see it looks like it’s a decent cop at Php 3295. So check out your nearest And1/AKT!V outlets and try out a pair of the Release Mid. Current local release is in White/Black/Varsity Red.
